An Inspiring Week in Oslo for the HySET Spring School 2026

Oslo set the stage for an intense and inspiring week of learning during the HySET Spring School 2026.

A central highlight of the week was the participation in HySchoolDays 2026, organized by the Norwegian Research School on Hydrogen and Hydrogen-based Fuels. Now in its third consecutive year as part of the HySET Spring School, participation in HySchoolDays has become a valued tradition of the program, besides being an annual meeting place for PhD candidates, researchers, and representatives from the labour market. Through a series of engaging talks and presentation, the HySchoolDays 2026 offered participants a valuable glimpse into the evolving landscape of hydrogen research and its real-world applications. Beyond the technical content, the event provided a unique opportunity for students to connect with researchers and professionals from across the globe. Conversations didn’t end when the sessions did, they continued over coffee breaks and shared meals. These exchanges not only enriched the learning experience but also helped HySET students build a strong international network.

Another key moment of the week was the final presentation of the industrial challenges. The next day, students were invited to present their solutions using the dynamic PechaKucha format, which demands clarity, precision, and creativity. The result was a series of compelling presentations where complex ideas were communicated in a concise and impactful way. It meant embracing a challenge that was as much about communication as it was about content. And yet, one after another, the students rose to the occasion, delivering presentations that were clear, creative, and full of personality, demonstrating confidence and originality.  One of HySET’s alumni, who is currently continuing her PhD journey in Norway, joined the event to reconnect with the group, say hello, and show her support.

The program concluded with a dedicated module on business development of the Innovation Workshop led by Collège des Ingénieurs. This final session shifted the focus from research to entrepreneurship, featuring insightful contributions on the evolution of energy infrastructure and the development of a new hydrogen venture. It offered students a valuable perspective on how the energy industry is evolving and the role they can play in shaping its future.

Overall, the HySET Spring School 2026 proved to be much more than a training week. It was a comprehensive journey that inspired, challenged, and empowered students, offering them perhaps a stronger sense of where they might want to go next.
