  • If clarifications are judged necessary, a video conference interview will be arranged.
3. Selection Procedure

The coordinating institution (Politecnico di Torino) is in charge to checks all submitted documents and if the applicants fulfil the admission requirements.

The applications are reviewed and rated by two reviewers from the five academic partners of the consortium. Four criteria are graded, for a maximum score of 100 points. The criteria are the following:

  • Academic achievements (GPA, graduation score): Max 30 points
  • Relevance of previous studies (university of origin, check of the basic background on mathematics, physics, chemistry): Max 30 points
  • Maximum 2 recommendation letters (by previous universities or companies) Self-presentation (CV, video, skype interview if necessary): Max 20 points
  • Motivation / work experience / professional and academic potential / awards: Max 20 points

On the basis of these reviews, the Admission Board allocates four different statuses to each application:

  • Admitted in the main list (qualified for an EMJM scholarship application)
  • Registered in the reserve list (qualification for a EU scholarship pending)
  • For these both statuses (main and reserve lists), if a student is finally disqualified for a EU scholarship, a self-paying status will be proposed (see financial conditions)
  • Admitted with a self-paying status (see financial conditions), not qualified for a EU scholarship
  • Not admitted in the HySET program

Students will be informed by email about their application in mid February. Students who are selected have to confirm their participation. The main list and the reserve list are then sent to the EU for approval. Final results (following EU approval) are released in February.

Gender Balance and Promotion of Female Candidate’s Applications

Accordingly with the principles promoted by the European Union and by the HySET consortium’s institutions, from September 2023 the program is committed to:

  • Fostering the gender balance to promote equal access to higher education in science and technology, and to close the gap in women’s participation in the energy transition,
  • Ensuring the gender balance in the admission process in order to reach the target of 40% of women on the main list:
  • All selected candidates in the main and reserve lists need to pass the selection criteria.
  • Some candidates may be removed from the main list and replaced by the next ranked candidates in the reserve list to comply with the gender ratio target.
